Paragraph3

Three Important Japanese Customs to Foreigners

Nowadays, the number of the foreigners who visit Japan is more and more increasing. According to JNTO(Japan National Tourist Organization), over 8 million people visited Japan in 2007. Most of those people have gone back to their home to their country not knowing Japanese culture because these trips are temporary. However, it is very important to know the local culture to widen their vision and get along with Japanese people. Three important customs are the keys to do so. First, Japanese people take off their shoes when they come into their houses because they want to keep floors clean. This is especially important when there is Tatami in Japanese houses. It is made from mat rush, so if there is stain on it, it is hard to clean. Second, Japanese people soak in the bathtub and they do it even with strangers in places called Onsen.
It seems to be very strange for foreigners, but it is familiar to Japanese people. They can warm themselves and talk with their family or friends or even strangers over soaking in a bathtub.
Finally, there are many oppotunities to bow in Japan. When Japanese meet people, they necessarilybow to each other. They don't get used to the body being touched in greeting like other countries. In most of cases, it means "Hello", bur above all to old people or their bosses it means a mark of respect. At any rate, Japanese people bow in various situations even where they should not do so. In conclusion, it is very meaningful to know different cultures for foreingners. By trying to do so, they can join the native people.

Paragraph 2

Why do people lie?

Generally, people tell lies not to hurt themselves and others. There are two reasons why people lie. First, they don’t want to have their pride injured. Most of them, including me, have a lot of pride, so they would not like to be looked down on by their friends and to be embarrassed. To protect themselves, they tell lies about themselves. But, in the end, it often comes to be useless because it is only temporary. However we make ideal of ourselves, we can’t really change.
Second, once in a while, people tell a lie not to hurt others. By talking about
their real feelings, they can break their friends’ heart. For example, one of my friends was troubled that she couldn’t get used to life of the university. I was enjoying it however, I couldn’t say that in her presence. I want to cheer her up, so I said “Everyone, even me, is the same as you.” I don’t know whether it is good or not, by hearing it, she seemed to get better.
In most cases, people tell lies for themselves, but at times, they can also
lie for others.

Paragraph 1
Why should high school students participate in club activity?
Participation in club activities develops high school students physically andmentally.First, from
physical point of view, it makes them active and builds up strong bodies. For example, when I
was a high school student, I belomg to a badminton club. So, I trained my body and built stamina.
It was also very useful for the life of a student preparing for an entrance exam. Like this, in
another situation, it's very helpful that we gain strength through club activities.
Second, from a mental point of view, to achieve our own goals we try to do our best and to work
positively. This attitude will be needed everywhere we live life. Finallly, we can also develop
socially. In club activities we need to cooperate with our teammates. We must think about not only ourselves, but also others. It seems to be difficult, but if we can, we can be best friends.
As we can see above, to participate in club activities helps us mature as a person. Students can learn a lot of things from these activities.
